Registering your property
If your property has not previously been submitted to the Land Registry, registering it with a title will provide you with greater flexibility, benefits and protection as a property owner.
In fact, property must now be registered before it can be bought or sold in England and Wales. Registering the property will also make transferring ownership more seamless in the future, as it will be easier to prove ownership during conveyancing.
A registered property also better secures your position against a claim for adverse possession. An adverse property claim is very serious, as, if successful, it can lead to an owner losing their land outright. This is particularly relevant if your property or land is currently vacant and left uninhabited or unchecked for long periods.
At Hedges, our expert property solicitors can guide you through the registration process to ensure you and your property are suitably protected.
