Many of our farming clients are already looking at potential diversification and different uses of land but it sounds like there are plenty more opportunities out there. With current uncertainties over Europe and the like I have no doubt that there will be plenty more people taking the time to consider alternative uses of land over the coming years and tourism will become an even bigger focus than it is already.
Tourism generates more revenue and provides more employment for the rural sector than farming, property consultants Bidwells has said.
At a special rural seminar John Hoy, who was chief executive of Blenheim Palace for 14 years before joining Bidwells, said the value of tourism is 'very poorly understood.'
