Farming families can breath a sigh of relief for the time being, following recent reports that the planned probate fee changes will not be going ahead.
Although the planned changes would see some estates paying no probate fee at all, for estates of £2million and above the fee could be as high as £20,000!
For many estates the proposed fee structure could have been problematic due to the difficulty in finding available cash to cover the fee. Where an estate is asset-rich this could be a particular challenge.
There has been no confirmation yet as to whether this controversial scheme will come into force in the future.
