We’re delighted to share the news that we are opening a new branch in the centre of Chipping Norton this Summer. This is our third location in Oxfordshire, following the opening of our new branch in Oxford last year, and our original branch in Wallingford where Hedges first began, all the way back in 1789. We are actually one of the oldest businesses in Oxfordshire, and started delivering legal services in the local community in the year of the French Revolution.
Opening a branch in Chipping Norton is the perfect next step for Hedges and doing so has been on our ‘wish list’ for several years. An increasing number of our clients live and work in and around Chipping Norton, and it’s not hard to see why: with its historic charm, beautiful landscapes, culture and community, it’s a wonderful place to live, and a location we will be proud to call home.
We are now underway with our plans to sensitively transform 22 High Street – formally Cotswolds Newsagents – with local architect firm Habitat+ Architects, creating a beautiful, airy and welcoming space in the town square helping to enhance and elevate the High Street, a space that we hope our clients, new and old, will be able to enjoy.
As a proudly independent and employee-owned law firm, this latest step in our journey is an important one. We have been a part of the Oxfordshire community for more than 200 years and with the opening of our Chipping Norton branch, we will have a presence in the South, in the centre and in the North of the county. Whilst some businesses have taken the approach of disappearing from the high street and moving online in recent years, we take pride in being in the heart of our communities, with offices near where our clients live so that we can best serve them.
We take great pride in our long history and the deep roots we have established in the communities we have served over that time. We are looking forward to inviting our clients to our new premises, and working with local organisations to ensure the communities surrounding Chipping Norton have access to the best legal advice and support. Giving back to the local community has always been a huge part of Hedges’ heritage and Chipping Norton will be no exception: we are already in talks with The Branch who are shortly to open across the square here in town, to explore ways in which we can support the charity by way of fundraising, increasing their visibility and offering the time, skills and knowledge of our staff.
