Earlier this week Dame Barbara Windsor and her husband Scott Mitchell called on the Prime Minister Boris Johnson to solve the dementia care crisis.
Following this Chris Evans has spoken out about raising money to fight dementia, stating that “One and a half million people are affected by dementia in one way or another…. This is for Dame Barbara Windsor and Scott”.
There is no doubt that the social care system needs to be reviewed, including dementia care. Celebrity support highlights the issues and gives it the media attention it needs to encourage change.
In the meantime it is important to take advice about how our current paying for care rules work, and securing the funding that your loved one could be entitled to, such as welfare benefits and NHS Continuing Care (NHS CHC) funding.
