So where do we get work done? At work, surely? Well that may not be the case any longer. Despite the obvious procrastination opportunities, most people I speak to extol the virtue of working at home or anywhere other than the office (an entirely unscientific observation). Jason Fried’s talk on making workplaces actually work is sure to make you think about how businesses could get more out of their people.
P.S. Jason’s book ReWork is a great read and expands on these ideas!
Hedges are sponsoring TEDx Oxford 2017 which will bring together 12 speakers, including CEOs, entrepreneurs, professors, psychologists, writers, students, innovators and technologists to share their ideas on “X Changes Everything”.
TEDx Oxford is on 5 February 2017 at the New Theatre Oxford starting at 10.30am. Tickets are on sale now at http://tedxoxford.co.uk/get-tickets/. If you want to give up a lazy Sunday to listen in awe, watch with wonder, learn new things and be truly inspired book soon, tickets are selling out fast!
Jason Fried has a radical theory of working: that the office isn't a good place to do it. He calls out the two main offenders (call them the M&Ms) and offers three suggestions to make the workplace actually work.
