I doubt it’s a coincidence that the divorce between Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow is going ahead two years after they separated. Two years separation and consent is one of the five reasons on which couples can base their divorce in England and Wales. The five reasons are:-
- Adultery
- Unreasonable behaviour
- Two years separation and consent
- Desertion and two years separation
- Five years separation
Unless couples want to wait for two years (which can pose problems in relation to finances) the most commonly used fact is unreasonable behaviour. This sounds worse than it is. Unreasonable behaviour doesn’t have to be seriously bad behaviour, and what will be cited should always be agreed between the parties before the divorce is started. It is advisable to include five different examples, and examples include:-
My wife doesn’t help with housework and chores around the house, and leaves this all to me.
My husband does not wish to be intimate with me as regularly as I would like.
My husband doesn’t want to socialise with my family and friends.
My wife spends too much time at work and on the internet.
Chris Martin has finally signed on the dotted line, making his divorce from Gwyneth Paltrow official.
The singer has reportedly had the documents for 10 months, but has been in no rush to sign them. He finally has meaning he and Gwyneth are now officially divorced.
Its a hugely amicable split the pair will share joint custody of their children Apple and Moses, and are likely to split their £120million fortune else down the middle.
A source told The Sun: Chris has now signed the divorce papers. There was no underlying reason why he had left them for so long and he was planning to do it eventually.
