Unfortunately this article highlights the stark financial reality people are faced with when deciding to care for a loved one.
It is a case of balancing the peace of mind in knowing you are there to support your loved one, against the strain it places on the carer’s finances and also having to give up a career.
Id like the government to recognise the huge impact carers have. They need to pay a reasonable amount to live on. I just think if my dad didnt pay those bills, it would be impossible for me to survive financially. We wouldnt be able to have the heating on or eat. Its ridiculous. I feel embarrassed. I cant even take my dad out for a coffee, money really is that tight.
