Being appointed as an attorney is a huge responsibility and commitment. A person may not understand the complexities of the role when signing their attorney declaration as part of the Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) signing process. A significant factor in attorney abuse arises from attorneysÂ’ ignorance, of them doing something they should not do, or more frequently, failing to do something they should do; not as a result of any deliberate intention but because of their negligence or lack of understanding.
