Stepping in as an attorney

The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) helps people to stay in control of decisions about their health and finance, and make important decisions for others who cannot decide for themselves.

In these uncertain times, the OPG are experiencing a higher rate of enquiries.

If you find yourself having to step in as your loved one’s attorney at this time, and you are unsure of the measures you should be taking, please get in touch.

Due to these uncertain times, the amount of phone calls the OPG has received has risen. Phone calls will be answered, however, they are taking a little longer due to reduced staffing levels, but all phone calls will be answered.

The OPG is encouraging people to utilise internet services wherever possible and find information on websites where they can. So, for those wanting information regarding their roles as deputies or attorneys, they are advised to visit the GOV.UK website.
