As a bit of a geek I get excited about developments in technology. Of course, technology also has the power to change the way we think and behave but before watching this talk I had never thought about how it might free up our brains (or even allow our brains to evolve) to increase their power! In the latest in my series on our favourite TED Talks, Ray Kurzweil explains how cloud computing might make us smarter and offers a tantalising look into the future!
P.S. I promise it is only slightly scary. No one mention SkyNet!

Two hundred million years ago, our mammal ancestors developed a new brain feature: the neocortex. This stamp-sized piece of tissue (wrapped around a brain the size of a walnut) is the key to what humanity has become. Now, futurist Ray Kurzweil suggests, we should get ready for the next big leap in brain power, as we tap into the computing power in the cloud.
