City of Dreaming Hotels?

Dispute Resolution - 1 minute read

Little steps maybe but some welcome progress this week to address the eternal Oxford condundrum : why oh why in a city of tourism-heaven and academic & medical global excellence, is there no hotel or conference centre with more than 300 rooms?

Amaris’ £5.7 million investment to increase the Jury’s Inn hotel to 240 rooms is good news for Oxford and will maybe herald further investment for not only hotel expansion but maybe the long-awaited and much needed hotel and conference facilities enjoyed by other major business hubs such as Manchester and Birmingham.

Amaris pledges £24m to renovate three UK & Irish hotel properties
The commitment brings the Group’s total capital investment to £124 million

Hotel investment and hospitality group Amaris Hospitality has committed a further £24 million to extend three properties within its portfolio, with Jurys Inn Oxford chosen as the first hotel for extension.

This brings the Group’s total capital investment to £124 million, as it continues its programme to transform, rebrand and reposition 23 hotels across its 74 strong portfolio.

The four-star Jurys Inn hotel in Oxford is to receive an additional 72 rooms and additional meeting space. The hotel will receive £5.7 million of investment as part of the capital expenditure, with work set to be completed in October 2016. The hotel currently boasts 168 bedrooms, 20 meeting and event rooms, conference facilities, bar and restaurant and leisure facilities.
