Agricultural Wages in Wales to Rise

This article from Farmers Weekly sets out the new minimum rates that agricultural workers in Wales will enjoy from 26 February 2016.

Although the Agricultural Wages Order (“AWO”) has been abolished in England since October 2013, the Welsh government has opted to keep it and to create a new AWO with revised minimum rates (the first since 2012).

Welsh farming employers should therefore keep a careful eye on the minimum rates in the AWO 2016, as these exceed the National Minimum Wage.

Wage rates for farmworkers in Wales will rise by 6% from 26 February – the first rise in rates across all categories of workers since 2012.
