Associate Solicitor (4-8+PQE) – Family Team
Hybrid – Oxford/Chipping Norton based with some remote working available. Looking for min 2 days office based.
SALARY: £55,000-£70,000 FTE dependent on experience and areas of expertise plus profit share and bonus
HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours, would also consider Part time, flexible 21 hours per week minimum

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
This is an exciting time to join Hedges; we are currently part employee-ownership, with plans to move to 100% employee ownership and have ambitious growth plans across the business. Our team is increasingly top-ranked in the legal directories with all members of the team being recognised as key lawyers.
We are looking to recruit an associate, with a desire to get stuck in with all aspects of private family law work. A particular experience in modern family law issues including financial claims of cohabiting couples and their children, private children law matters including parentage and mediation are highly desired, to play a key role in growing our family law team. The successful candidate will run their own caseload, as well as supporting the more senior members of the team on the most complex matters and assist the Team Leader with business development and marketing initiatives.
The ideal candidate will be either someone who is ready to move up to an Associate role or already at that level with ambitions to grow their portfolio and areas of expertise.
The Hedges’ family law team provides first-class advice and excellent client care to high net worth clients with our core client base being in and around Oxfordshire, the Cotswolds, the Home Counties and London. Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team is essential. The candidate will have a passionate interest in their subject matter and a keen desire to stay updated in both legal and practical learning. They should also be interested in embracing new technologies and new offerings in the market.
Resolution or similar accreditation would be highly desirable.
ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS
● Associate level with minimum 4 years’ PQE or equivalent
● A passion for family work
● Confident in running own caseload and able to work autonomously
● Experience of working with high net worth individuals, ideally with international connections.
● A desire to maintain or build an excellent reputation in family and children law.
● Excellent client care skills.
● Commercial awareness, recognising the importance of time recording, billing and managing debt.
● Punctual and reliable
● Excellent attention to detail
● Excellent organisational, file and time management skills with ability to prioritise own workload
● Positive and hardworking with a keenness to work with and help colleagues.
● Good IT skills.
● Resolution accreditation would be an advantage.
KEY TASKS
1. Advising Hedges’ clients on a range of family law issues, including pre- and post-nuptial arrangements, separation including divorce/dissolution of civil partnerships, cohabitation claims, financial remedy claims and private children law, including parentage.
2. Appropriate supervision, support and training of more junior family law team members
3. Supporting Hedges’ marketing team by contributing to team blogs, articles, commentary, directory submissions etc.
4. Working with Hedges’ business development team to grow the profile of the team by attending events and forging relationships with key professional referrers.
